Viront Greywater Saver

The Viront Domestic (B1) Greywater Saver is a water recycling unit that works on the premise that potable drinking water shouldn’t be used to flush toilets and that relatively clean, recently-produced greywater from a shower or bath is adequately clean enough to perform this function. The unit consisting of a 70litre recycled plastic sump, 12V submersible pump and several float switches together with the necessary pipes and filters to automatically fill toilet cisterns after each use by using shower and bath water that has been collected for this purpose. Using this recycling unit, it is unnecessary for the average household to need to use any municipal water for flushing toilets and the main water supply valve to the cistern for this purpose can be temporarily shut once the unit is installed.

The average person uses approximately 10 litres of municipal water for a reasonably quick shower of 3 minutes duration using a low-flow water saving shower head. Any excess shower water overflows from the Viront Domestic (B1) greywater Saver unit to the garden, or back down the drain, if porting it to the garden isn’t an option. A small 12V LED status indicator panel placed in the bathroom identifies when the cistern is filling and full as well as when the sump is empty or overflowing. This allow users to very easily monitor how much water they are using when showering to help ensure there is no excessive wastage.

The Viront Domestic (B1) Greywater Saver comes complete with everything needed to plumb it into a domestic bathroom and can either be installed as a DIY unit or preferably by a qualified plumber. A full wiring diagram and instructions are also provided for connecting the pump, float switches and LED status indicator panel and the whole system is operated off a 12V supply for safety reasons. The Viront Domestic (B1) Greywater Saver has also been optimally sized to use greywater that has only recently been produced so that unpleasant odours don’t develop as would be the case from water standing for extended periods of time should a larger sump have been used. A deodorizing toilet rim block is supplied with the unit to combat any odours produced.
